Certerra-Southern Engineering is hiring an experienced CMT Technician for our Raleigh, NC facility to perform testing of construction materials on active sites to verify compliance with project documents.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and relevant certifications such as ACI Field Technician I or NICET CMT Level I+. The role requires attention to safety and ability to work independently or with a team.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability by firm insurer.
• Preferred certifications include ACI Field Technician I, NICET CMT I or higher, ICC Soils, and NCDOT certifications.

Responsabilités

• Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing (slump, air content, unit weight, temperature).
• Asphalt testing: establish test locations, monitor load temperature, verify density/laydown, core drilling.
• Soil/Aggregate testing: density/compaction, proof rolling, moisture content, bearing capacity, excavation quantification.
• Duties and responsibilities are paid staffing level commensurate with experience and active certifications.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Certerra-Southern Engineering is hiring an experienced CMT (Construction Materials Testing) Technician for our facility in Raleigh, NC to perform testing of various construction materials on active construction sites to verify compliance with project documents.

Preferred Certifications/Licenses: (any of the below)

• American Concrete Institute (ACI) Field Technician Level I Certification
• National Institute for Certification of Engineering Technologies (NICET) CMT Level I or higher (soils or concrete)
• International Code Council (ICC) Soils Certification
• NCDOT Certifications (e.g., QMS Roadway Technician conventional density, ABC/borrow pit sampling)
• Exhibit excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and/or within Team environments.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma.

Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the firm insurance carrier

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Concrete/Grout/Mortar inspection and testing
  • Monitoring for proper placement techniques
  • Testing for slump, air content, unit weight, temperature
  • Molding of compressive strength specimens
  • Core drilling
• Asphalt
  • Establishing test locations
  • Checking load temperature
  • Verifying property laydown and rolling practices
  • Core drilling for density/thickness specimen
• Soil/Aggregate testing
  • Testing density/compaction
  • Observing proof rolling
  • Verifying proper moisture content
  • Checking bearing capacity for foundation support
  • Excavation quantification
