Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Experienced Climbing Arborist for the Near North Shore area in Wheeling, IL. This on-site role involves pruning, removing, and health-focused tree care using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems, with a focus on safety and client service.

You’ll operate with a crew, perform pruning, cable installation, and hazardous-tree removal, and receive company-wide benefits and development opportunities. Starting pay is $30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights preferred.
• Complete Davey Tree orientation and safety courses upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader to perform pruning and removal safely.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood; install cables, bracing, and lightning protection.
• Remove hazardous trees and maintain tools and equipment.

Position Overview

Trimand removetrees, remove unwanted,diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areasby performing the following duties.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
