Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a climbing arborist to trim and remove trees on-site in Wheeling, IL. You will work with a crew to safely prune, remove deadwood, and install support systems while maintaining equipment and tools.

Starting pay is $30 per hour with benefits, career development, and opportunities for advancement within a national employee-owned organization.

Qualifications

• Love of outdoor work and nature.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping preferred.
• Able to complete Davey Tree orientation program on hire.
• Able to complete Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire.
• Licenses/certificates relevant to state law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader as a team.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Prune, thin and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
