Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Mokena, IL is seeking a climbing arborist to trim and remove trees and to improve health and safety of trees and surroundings. You will work with a crew, climbing and pruning with gear like chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts in a safety-conscious environment.

Starting pay is $24-$27 per hour with benefits, PTO, advancement opportunities, and a 401(k) with company match. This full-time, on-site role offers employee-owned culture and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Preferred: Background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using approved systems (DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS).
• Operate as part of a crew with ground support and crew leader.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection.
• Remove hazardous trees and maintain tools and equipment.

Job Duties
What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
