Experienced Civil & Stormwater Project Engineer

Opportunity Overview

WSP is initiating a search for an Experienced Civil & Stormwater Project Engineer at our Morristown, NJ office. The position may also be based in Lawrenceville, NJ. The successful candidate will work with our Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) team in New Jersey, contributing to a growing global professional services firm.

Responsibilities
  • Support civil engineering projects related to Stormwater Management (SWM), Drainage, Hydrologic & Hydraulic (H&H), Soil Erosion & Sediment Control (SESC)
  • Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, consultants, subcontractors, and clients
  • Prepare permit applications, reports, plans, specifications, estimates, and provide construction support
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources including surveys, GIS, and geotechnical data
  • Apply civil engineering techniques for project development, design, and construction phases
  • Assist in project development, proposal preparation, and marketing
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design SWM BMP facilities
  • Design soil erosion and sediment control measures
  • Identify technical issues and mitigate risks
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Passed FE exam; EIT certification preferred
  • 4-7 years of experience in transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency in water resource engineering, drainage design, hydrology, and hydraulics
  • Knowledge of roadway design, grading, and earthwork
  • Experience with NJDEP permits and environmental approvals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, Bentley Pond Pack, StormCAD, and Storm & Sanitary
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Civil Engineering or related field
  • NJ/NY/PA PE license or ability to obtain
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, Civil 3D, InRoads/OpenRoads
  • Familiarity with surface water analysis software such as HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, EPA SWMM
