Job summary

Cake Decorator-Central Bakery position at SpartanNash in Mishawaka, IN. You will prepare and decorate products for delivery to store locations, with basic cake decorating skills including icing, writing with icing, and making roses.

Follow safe, sanitary food handling policy to prevent contamination and food borne illnesses. Starting wage: $17.00-$19.00 per hour, with shifts starting around 6am and some 9am-5:30pm on Monday, Wednesday-Saturday; Sunday and Tuesday off.

Cake Decorator Reports to: Cake Room Manager and Central Bakery Manager

Job Profile: Clerk 3, Cake Decorator-Central Bakery

Business Title: Cake Decorator-Central Bakery

Position Summary: Responsible for preparing and decorating products for delivery to the store locations. General knowledge of cake decorating: Icing, writing with icing, and making roses. Follow safe, sanitary food handling policy to prevent contamination and food borne illnesses.

Starting Wage: $17.00-$19.00 (based on experience)

Start Time: Normally 6am with some close shifts of 9am-5:30pm Monday, Wednesday-Saturday (Sunday and Tuesday Off)

Overtime frequent and required Schedule may change on production needs and holidays

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience: No experience required. Decorating experience preferred.

Qualifications: Basic math and reading skills, ability to follow directions and work in a fast-paced environment. Flexible work schedule, weekend availability, occasional Tuesday, Sunday, and holidays are required.

Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 30+ lbs. Read and understands pass-out sheets along with understanding Special Orders. Be able to work independently and with others. Requires constant bending, stretching, pulling/pushing and good eye/hand coordination, repetitive wrist motion.

Other Duties: Clean work areas, take out trash, mop floors, restock packaging and labels. Varies according to production needs, occasionally may have to work in other production areas.

Environmental Conditions: Exposed to constant indoor temperatures of 75 degrees or higher, freezer temperatures of 32 degrees or below.

Noise: loud machines.

Chemicals: cleaning solutions.
