Assist in receiving, rotating, cutting, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meats, including grinds. Support in merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. Help in meat selection and prepare special meat arrangements for Members. Maintain all cleaning and safety standards within the meat department. This role includes a 6-month apprenticeship to prepare Team Members for the Meat Cutter role.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Assist Members by answering questions regarding meat, poultry, and seafood, and make product recommendations when needed.
  • Cut, grind, and process fresh meats, weigh, package, wrap, and label meat, poultry, and seafood, and prepare special cuts as ordered by Members.
  • Ensure the meat case displays all available products and is fully stocked, rotating products according to expiration dates, and dispose of damaged or expired items following guidelines.
  • Inspect and store meat upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Handle receiving and unpacking of meats in the cooler and freezer.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment, fixtures, and areas in the meat department, including coolers and display cases.
  • Follow all club policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-departmental work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Preferred previous experience with fresh and processed meats.
  • Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines preferred.
  • Experience in a meat and/or deli department preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Environmental Job Conditions

  • Frequent movement on hard surfaces, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds; may require assistance for heavier objects.
  • Indoor environment with infrequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises; occasional contact with cleaning agents.

Salary range starts from $17.25. Actual salaries vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
