Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding division, seeks a Blaster with 2+ years of blast experience to prepare steel surfaces for coating. Training on company blast equipment will be provided, with work in tanks, voids, and at heights.

This full-time role requires US citizenship, ability to pass a background check and drug screen, and the stamina to lift 40 pounds and work outdoors year-round. Overtime and any shift are expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of blast process experience on steel structures.
• Able to pass background investigation and drug screen.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and work outdoors year-round.
• Willing to work at extreme heights and in confined spaces.
• Willing to work overtime and any shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate blast equipment to create a profile on steel surfaces for coating adherence.
• Perform blasting in tanks, voids, and at heights using company equipment.
• Learn and follow safety procedures and operate equipment safely.
