Job Description

Investigators on the PAPERPROOF program will conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals. They will review relevant records to gather facts necessary to resolve case issues or to establish the background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications of the subject under investigation.

Investigators typically work remotely from their home office within designated investigation territories, generally within a 100-mile radius. Temporary duty (TDY) assignments may also be available. Compensation is hourly, in accordance with SCA requirements. Approved expenses such as parking, tolls, metro fees, and record fees will be reimbursed. Investigators must have access to a computer, multi-function printer, telecommunications equipment, and software meeting minimum technical standards.

Locations of Need: San Francisco, Los Angeles, & San Diego

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Conduct fieldwork to gather all pertinent factual information and document findings in a clear, unbiased Report of Investigation.
• Perform face-to-face interviews with subjects, references, neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, friends, and other associates as needed.
• Complete record searches at employment sites, residences, law enforcement agencies, courthouses, and other repositories.
• Work independently from home with minimal supervision.
• Maintain compliance with government and industry standards for quality, integrity, timeliness, and productivity.
• Operate in a MS Windows environment, proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet, and Email.

Qualifications:

• Current or recent credentialing on the PAPERPROOF program preferred.
• Experience with DCSA, CBP/ICE, Sherlock, or similar systems acceptable.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a local, state, or federal personnel security investigator.
• Experience conducting federal background investigations preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years).
• Active Top-Secret Clearance.
• Professional demeanor with adaptability to change.
• Strong writing and communication skills; ability to establish rapport quickly.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and sufficient motor vehicle insurance.
• Intermediate or higher typing speed (40+ WPM) and computer skills.
