Qualities of the Perfect Candidate:

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform general automotive repairs on all makes and models of vehicles.
- Communicate with team and customers.

Job Summary:
At Wayside Garage, we are seeking an experienced Automotive Technician - B Level to join our team. In this role, you will operate as a seasoned technician with the ability to perform diagnoses and repairs on various vehicle components with minimal supervision. If you have previously worked as a C-Class general service technician and possess a wealth of automotive knowledge, we encourage you to apply.
Essential Duties:
- Perform automotive maintenance and repair work efficiently and accurately, following Wayside Garage's and factory standards.
- Diagnose the root causes of most malfunctions and execute necessary repairs.
- Collaborate with the Parts Professional to acquire required parts.
- Carefully save and label parts if they are under warranty or at the customer's request.
- Inspect the assigned vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is needed or recommended.
- Immediately communicate with the service advisor if additional work is necessary, if the outlined work is unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Thoroughly document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to the test technician.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Stay informed about manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Supervise apprentice technicians' work when assigned.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensure that customers' vehicles are returned in a clean condition and promptly notify service advisors of any changes to their appearance or condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop area.
- Be responsible for and account for all shop-owned tools and manuals, returning them in the same condition as received.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Report any safety concerns immediately to management.
- Undertake any other tasks as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Possession of two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technicians employed by Wayside Garage are required to obtain at least one ASE Certification within the first year of employment. The company will cover the cost of classes.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capability to write simple correspondence. Effective presentation of information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to read, interpret, and compose documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and reports, and effectively address groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Capability to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Application of concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Capacity to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Capability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpretation of an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with both abstract and concrete variables.
