Allegria Village, a senior-living community in Dearborn, is currently hiring an experienced part-time Activities Assistant on our Assisted Living Team.

Overview:

The Activities Assistant assists the Life Enrichment Director to provide group and individual activities for the residents. Duties will involve personal contact with a varying resident population and a varied work schedule that includes weekends. Tasks also will involve record keeping, attention to the environment, use of supplies and equipment, and maintenance of storage areas.

Schedule: part-time, 20-24 hours a week (4-6 hour shifts), must be able to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with activities as directed by the Life Enrichment Director

-Assist with signing residents up for events

- Prepare designated space for events and activities. Coordinate with IT as needed.

- Be sure area to be used for activity is free

- Follow the instructions for the activity as directed

-Observe individual resident participation and responses during the activity

-Record keeping and documentation as needed

-Assist in preparing various materials to aid, enhance, and elevate activities and events

-Help maintain a pleasant and cheerful environment

-Help with putting up, taking down, and storing seasonal decorations

-Must be able to effectively communicate information to the residents.

-Participate in and promote staff participation in facility-wide special activities such as dress-up days and special observances.

-Assists with creating and formatting the monthly calendar, monthly birthday list, newsletter, flyers, etc.

-Assist greeting committee; meeting with new residents when they move-in and uncovering interests/hobbies and connect them with activities/groups that they might be interested in.

-Assist with memo upkeep in regard to events going on around our campus

-Attend mandatory facility in-services

- Attend activity department in-services or workshops as directed by the Life Enrichment Director

-Assist resident groups as needed and as directed

-Assist to organize resident trips offsite

-Continue the activity program in the absence of the Life Enrichment Director

-Other duties as assigned

  • Maintains composure in stressful situations
  • Works well with others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Canva, or publisher
  • A desire to continue to enhance skills through ongoing education
  • At least 1 year of Activities in Senior Living

Education/Certification:

-High school diploma or GED
