Description

Stockyards Tavern and Chophouse in South St. Paul is hiring immediately for an Expeditor.

This position is responsible for supporting service activities within the restaurant with primary responsibility for communicating orders and information between the front of the house and back of the house, making sure that food is cooked in the correct order and presented to the guest as beautifully as possible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Expedites the food service line.
  • Reads tickets and monitors the preparation of dishes and the fulfillment of in-house and to- go orders.
  • Ensures the efficient flow of orders from servers to the kitchen and orders are prepared with the correct priority and according to established timing standards.
  • Assembles food orders from kitchen, adds the appropriate garnish/sauces/sides according to restaurant standards.
  • Checks food orders for temperature, accuracy, and presentation and ensures no blemishes exist on plates prior to serving.
  • Calls out orders to chefs, checks on the status of dishes and calls for servers when food is ready to serve.
  • Informs chefs and cook staff of special needs or instructions for meals.
  • Accurately assembles, fills, and packages to-go orders.
  • Alerts servers when the kitchen is out of specific ingredients and relays’ special food requests from the server to the kitchen.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and order in all cooking prep, and food storage areas, keeping these areas neat, well organized and stocked with ingredients.
  • Supports and assists servers when necessary.
  • Stocks/replenishes an adequate supply of product and equipment based on expected business volumes, completes set up, and break down duties to departmental standard.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • At least 1 – 2 years related experience in a high-volume, high energy, food and beverage environment. Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, and frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Food safety certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently, as well as with a team.
