Job summary

ESS Metron is seeking an Expeditor to ensure timely movement of materials across the fabrication, warehouse, and operations floors in Denver. You will coordinate with purchasing and production to maintain smooth workflows and resolve shortages, with three levels (I-III) to grow your skills in supply chain coordination.

The role emphasizes safety, data accuracy, and collaboration, offering opportunities to develop process improvements and lead small teams as you advance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent at minimum.
  • 1–3 years in expeditor or material coordination roles.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Epicor) and MS Office.
  • Ability to read blueprints and BOMs; strong organizational skills.
  • Manufacturing experience is a plus; able to mentor others.

Responsibilities

  • Expedite materials and coordinate flow between departments per schedules.
  • Review schedules, determine material requirements, and identify shortages.
  • Prepare documentation related to production sequences, shipping, and status reports.
  • Act as liaison between operations, purchasing, and warehouse.

About This Role

The Expeditor plays a critical role in ensuring materials, parts, and components move efficiently across ESS Metron's production floor to keep projects on schedule and operations running smoothly. Working within the Fabrication, Warehouse, and Operations departments. Expeditors serve as the connective tissue between purchasing, production, and project teams — tracking material flow, resolving shortages, and communicating status updates in real time. This role is structured across three levels — Expeditor I, II, and III — allowing individuals to grow their skills and advance their careers as they deepen their expertise in supply chain coordination and operations management.

What You'll Be Doing
Expeditor I
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a "Safety First" mentality across the team.
  • Organize, stage, and deliver materials to designated production areas to prevent work stoppages.
  • Move materials using material handling equipment including hand trucks, pallet trucks, and forklifts (after certification).
  • Verify and audit incoming production kit shipments against documentation (bills of lading, invoices) to check for accuracy and damage.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to all company safety standards.
  • Perform basic data entry to record production information and material movement in company systems.
  • Communicate with team leads, supervisors, and managers regarding material status, potential shortages, or delays.
  • All other duties as assigned by direct lead, supervisors, or managers.
Expeditor II
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a "Safety First" mentality across the team.
  • Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials and parts between departments according to production schedules and priorities.
  • Review production schedules and work orders to determine material requirements and identify potential shortages or backlogs.
  • Compile and prepare documentation related to production sequences, shipping, and material status reports.
  • Act as a liaison between operations, purchasing, and warehouse departments to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
  • Assist with inventory control activities, including cycle counting and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Communicate with team leads, supervisors, and managers regarding material status, potential shortages, or delays.
  • All other duties as assigned by direct lead, supervisors, or managers.
Expeditor III
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a "Safety First" mentality across the team.
  • Manage and prioritize expediting tasks for assigned project jobs and ensure all parts are inventoried and delivered along with communicating remaining open BOM items.
  • Develop and implement material management and control plans and procedures to optimize inventory levels and workflow efficiency.
  • Analyze capacity constraints and collaborate with department managers and production planning to balance workloads and resources.
  • Provide regular, detailed updates and progress reports to management and key stakeholders regarding WIP BOM status and potential project risks.
  • Mentor junior expediters and support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and operations.
  • Communicate with supervisors and managers regarding material status, potential shortages, or delays.
  • All other duties as assigned by direct lead, supervisors, or managers.
What You'll Have
Expeditor I
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Expeditor II
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in an expeditor, material handler, or material coordinator role.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) and MS Office.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, basic drawings, and bills of material (BOMs).
  • Prior forklift experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience a plus.
Expeditor III
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in an expediting or supply chain coordination role, preferably within a heavy manufacturing or industrial setting (e.g., Oil & Gas, Switchgear).
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) and MS Office.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills.Ability to develop and implement process improvements and material control plans.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
  • Operates in an active manufacturing facility.
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts.
  • Moderate noise level work environment.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
