Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the general supervision of the Lead Expeditor, the Expeditor of Home Delivered Meals is responsible for managing the distribution of cooked or catered meals to drivers and deliverers of Home Delivered Meals (HDML). Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Receive meals from Caterers and CMOW, appropriately stock and inventory meals
- Ensure that each route has the accurate count and type of meals for each route
- Organize and prepare the correct client meal preferences per route, using HDM Route sheets or other systems to track routes and client meals
- Communicate with drivers and deliverers to ensure smooth daily meal expediting and route dispatching in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with the HDM team using tools and systems available i.e., MS Teams, email, and other systems and tools – for route and client meal management
- Identify areas of improvement and recommend solutions to Lead Expeditor and Assistant Director to continually improve process and workflow for timely expediting and quality meal delivery
- Support the Lead Expeditor in splitting meals to different routes, including when route shifts are needed, when making adjustments, and when planning coverage for all routes
- Follow all protocols and procedures for safe food distribution so as to avoid unsanitary practices or food-borne illness
- Conduct routine checks for meal and food temperatures to ensure food quality and report any issues to HDM Assistant Directors and to the Caterers to quickly resolve the issues
- Support timely dispatching of drivers from lots to ensure smooth expediting and loading operations; assist with routes to prevent overcrowding and timely operations to avoid delayed routes
- Assist drivers with packing home-delivered meals into trucks
- Move, unpack, and store food and supplies as required
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, floors, surfaces, and office spaces
- Serve as a backup driver/deliverer to cover any driver/deliver shortages or in case of emergencies
General Program Support:
- Assist in holiday or emergency planning to ensure meal delivery to clients
- Interact directly with Seniors, staff, volunteers, program vendors, Case Management partners, DFTA, CMOW, and other organizations during site visits
- Other related duties as assigned by the manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Food handler’s license or prior completion of food safety coursework preferred
- Any relevant experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered qualifying.
