Job summary

Gourmet Gorilla, Goose Island, Chicago, IL, is seeking a reliable Expeditor/Packer to join our sustainable foodservice team. You will receive items from kitchen staff, stage for next-day deliveries, and help ensure accurate labeling and staging for delivery.

This role runs Monday through Friday, 5am–1pm, with a start date immediate. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in a refrigerated environment, and maintain strong attention to detail and communication under pressure.

Qualifications

• Must be reliable and punctual.
• Superior attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to follow instruction.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Flexible and able to work under pressure in a dynamic kitchen environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Fluent in English (bilingual in Spanish a plus).

Responsibilities

We are seeking reliable, hard-working, and diligent individuals to join the expediting team of our sustainable food service company.

Gourmet Gorilla, founded in 2009, strives for a sustainable future for our children by providing local and organic school lunches and healthier eating options.

Duties

• Receive food items from kitchen staff & stage for following day deliveries
• Organize and pack cold food items
• Assist in expediting & checking out delivery drivers
• Troubleshoot expediting issues as they arise.
• Able to deliver if needed
• Closing out at the end of each day: making sure everything has been prepared, labeled correctly, and staged for delivery

Job Details

• Days: Monday – Friday 5am-1pm
• Location: Goose Island (Division and Halsted Area)
• Pay: $17.50-$19.50/hour start depending on experience
• Start: Immediately
