Expansion Operator – 1st Shift

Hours: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and mechanically inclined Expansion Operator to join our team on the 2nd shift. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience working on expansion or extrusion machines in a plastics manufacturing environment. The role offers stability, growth potential, and the chance to contribute to high‑quality production processes.

Shift Details

• Hours: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Full-time, 40 hours per week with potential for overtime

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate expansion machines in accordance with detailed Work Instructions, Shop Orders, Engineering directives, and management instructions to ensure production meets customer specifications.
• Monitor machine performance continuously, promptly identifying and resolving issues related to diameter, color, surface quality, and other expansion variables.
• Maintain quality standards by adjusting process parameters to meet internal and external specifications, while minimizing material waste.
• Recognize early signs of equipment issues, troubleshooting basic mechanical or process‑related problems to maintain optimal operation.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment by adhering to safety policies, housekeeping standards, and proper tool maintenance.
• Handle and store tooling, dies, and inspection tools appropriately, reporting worn or missing items to supervisors for timely replacement.
• Assist with routine preventive maintenance tasks to keep machinery operating efficiently and reliably.
• Communicate any safety concerns or unusual machine conditions immediately to supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret specific Work Orders and technical instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude with a strong understanding of how extrusion/expansion machinery functions.
• Basic math skills for measuring product dimensions such as inside diameter, wall thickness, and length.
• Troubleshooting skills with the ability to modify process parameters to ensure product quality.
• Flexibility to adapt to manufacturing variables and changing priorities.
• Physical ability to bend, twist, and lift up to 40 lbs. repeatedly throughout shifts.
