Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Board Certification and Virginia license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience in trauma, emergency medicine, or surgery preferred.
  • Strong clinical and procedural skills in trauma care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in management of patients with acute traumatic injuries in emergency and inpatient settings.
  • Provide intraoperative support during trauma surgeries and postoperative care.
  • Participate in trauma resuscitation and emergency interventions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, progress notes, discharge summaries, and operative reports.

Role Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Trauma APP to join our dynamic trauma team at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients suffering from traumatic injuries. This position involves working closely with trauma surgeons, emergency medicine teams, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Assist in the management of patients with acute traumatic injuries in both emergency and inpatient settings. Conduct thorough assessments, develop treatment plans, and perform necessary medical procedures under the supervision of a trauma surgeon.
  • Surgical Assistance: Provide intraoperative support during trauma surgeries, including preoperative preparation, assisting during surgery, and postoperative care.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in trauma resuscitation and emergency interventions as needed, ensuring timely and effective treatment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including progress notes, discharge summaries, and operative reports.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Education & Training: Participate in the training and education of medical students, residents, and other healthcare staff. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in trauma care.
  • Quality Improvement: Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and optimizing trauma care protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification: Board Certification and current Virginia license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience: Previous experience in trauma, emergency medicine, or surgery preferred.
