Knoxville Pediatric Dentistry is looking for an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our caring team at our Tazewell Pike office! As the first smile our patients see, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for children and families. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven practice and values making a difference in every child's dental experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment.
  • Take X-rays as needed or instructed after reviewing case notes or dental referral.
  • Confirm medical history with the patient and make necessary updates.
  • Monitor and/or administer nitrous oxide, perform coronal polishing, apply sealants, and/or perform various ortho functions as mandated by the state of license.
  • Assist the doctor with all dental treatments and procedures.
  • Accurately chart data in the patient’s record, including clinical notations, irregularities, treatments performed, updates to medical history, doctor’s comments, treatment priorities, patient responses, and questions.
  • Provide patients with post-treatment oral care instructions and coordinate with the Dental Treatment Coordinator to schedule treatments and ensure appointment durations are appropriate.
  • May be required to travel between office locations; must be insurable by the company’s insurance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
