Job description

Temple University's Faculty Dental Practice is searching for an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)!

Must be able to work nontraditional hours including some shifts from 8 AM - 8 PM during the week and some hours on Saturdays.

Job Summary

The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, established in 1863, is the second-oldest dental school in the U.S. and a leader in dental education, research, community service, and healthcare. With over 7,000 alumni worldwide, it celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2023.

Our school offers diverse educational programs and patient services, training dedicated professionals in the dental field.

The EFDA will assist residents, faculty, and students in patient care, including procedures like amalgam restorations, fluoride treatments, rubber dam placement, composite restorations, and more. Responsibilities also include assisting with surgical procedures, maintaining infection control, taking digital x-rays, managing supplies, troubleshooting equipment, and administrative tasks such as front desk support.

Required Education and Experience
  • EFDA Dental license in Pennsylvania
  • Dental assisting training and certification from an accredited school
  • Dental Radiology Certification from Pennsylvania
  • CPR certification
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work at the clinic located in the Broad St and Spring Garden St area and travel to the main dental school as needed
  • Ability to obtain PA Child Abuse Clearances
  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and respond to multiple requests effectively
  • Understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and diagnosis
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work ethically within legal boundaries
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and attention to detail
  • Ability to assist patients, including those in wheelchairs

This position is on-site and requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to start.
