Overview
Responsibilities
Assist dentist during procedures as needed and other tasks associated with assisting the daily workflow of the office
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and office policies
Prepare patients and the work area for treatments and procedures
Sterilize dental instruments
Place fillings- use restorative materials to place, sculpt & polish fillings, check the bite occlusion, and make sure that the area flosses well
Sealants application – applying a thin layer of plastic on teeth to seal them and prevent cavities
Fluoride application – applying fluoride gel to the teeth for cavity prevention
Coronal polishing – buffing away small, soft plaque deposits from the teeth for additional cleaning
Dental charting – creating a chart that lists and describes the condition of a patient’s teeth
Schedule patient appointments as needed
Qualifications
Registered as an EFDA by the Ohio State Dental Board
Received a state certificate in coronal polishing from the Ohio State Board of Dentistry
Current CPR certification (re-certification provided)
2-3 years minimum experience working in a dental practice as an EFDA
Ability to comply with safety procedures, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment
Working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices
