Job summary

Coastal Kids Dental & Braces – James Island is seeking an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join our pediatric team. You’ll support the dentist with restorative and endodontic procedures, place sealants, take radiographs, and help maintain a comfortable, positive patient experience for children.

This role offers a balanced schedule with Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM and one Friday per month, fostering work-life balance while delivering high-quality clinical care in our friendly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications in radiology, nitrous oxide, and expanded function/expanded duties.
• Current CPR certification.
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred; bilingual skills are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist with restorative, endodontic, surgical and other procedures.
• Place and contour restorations, take impressions, apply sealants within state regulations.
• Take dental radiographs and complete preliminary charting.
• Prepare and maintain instruments, equipment and materials.

We’re looking for a skilled, compassionate, and team-oriented EDDA who enjoys working with children and wants to be part of a supportive pediatric dental team.

Your Schedule:

• Tuesday & Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• One Friday per month.

What You’ll Do:

As an EDDA, you’ll play an important role in both patient care and clinical support. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assist the dentist with restorative, endodontic, surgical, and other dental procedures.
• Perform expanded functions within the scope of state regulations, including placing and contouring restorations, taking impressions, and applying sealants.
• Take dental radiographs and complete preliminary charting.
• Prepare and maintain instruments, equipment, and treatment materials.
• Follow infection control and sterilization protocols.
• Welcome and prepare patients for treatment while helping create a comfortable, positive experience.
• Provide patients and families with post-treatment and oral hygiene instructions.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Help maintain inventory and ensure clinical supplies are available.
• Support the overall flow and efficiency of the practice.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required state dental assisting certifications/credentials, including applicable radiology, nitrous oxide, and expanded function/expanded duties certifications.
• Current CPR certification.
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred.Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
