Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, with EDDA Certificate from Louisiana.

Job description

David Raines Community Health Centers is looking for passionate, qualified applicants to join our team!

The Expanded Duty Dental Assistant assists the dentist in all dental procedures and follows all OSHA guidelines.

Work Experience Requirements
  • Assists the dentist in all dental procedures.
  • Completes Time Out/Intake (blood pressure, pulse, pain scale, chief complaint) on all patients.
  • Breaks down and sets up operations.
  • Properly sterilizes operatories and equipment between patients.
  • Keeps the operatories well stocked with supplies. Orders supplies as necessary.
  • Stores and keeps track of all dental laboratory cases.
  • Fills out tracks Medicaid/insurance pre-authorizations.
  • Monitors the upkeep of dental equipment on a weekly basis.
  • Tests the autoclaves on a weekly basis.
  • Assists in laboratory duties.
  • Makes sure patient is properly draped and ready for procedure.
  • Wears proper protective equipment during procedures, including gloves, gown, and mask.
  • Reports any equipment repair that is needed to the supervisor.
  • Prepares for and acts appropriately to medical emergencies in the dental office.
  • Applies cavity liners and bases (excluding capping of exposed pulpal tissue).
  • Places pit and fissure sealants, and acid etch liquids and gels.
  • Places, wedges, and removes matrices for restorations by the dentist.
  • Places and removes periodontal dressings, except placement of the initial dressing.
  • Places and removes retraction cord.
  • Performs coronal polishing procedures: prior to rubber dam placement, fluoride applications, or acid etch procedures prior or after the placement or removal of brands, crowns, and restorations, after the removal of dressings and packs, excluding periodontal dressings and packs.
  • Monitors administration of nitrous oxide.
  • Fabricates a temporary custom crown.
  • Must be available to rotate on occasion, as may be necessary, to other DRCHC sites (Bossier, Gilliam, Haynesville, Minden, or Shreveport).
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have EDDA Certificate from Louisiana State Board of Dentistry.
  • Must have certificate of graduation from a dental assistant training program and/or minimum of 1 year experience as Full-time dental assistant.
  • Experience with electronic dental records preferred.
  • Must be available to work after hours and weekends as required by management.
