Job summary

The Toro Company, Exmark Division in Beatrice, NE, is seeking an engineering tester to evaluate prototypes and production units in a dedicated lab environment. You will collect data, run tests, document results, and help improve test fixtures and procedures.

Ideal candidates will have a GED or technical degree, hands-on data acquisition experience (LabVIEW/SoMat), and strong communication skills. The role is onsite only with opportunities for growth and professional development.

Qualifications

• GED/High School Diploma required with relevant experience; technical college degree or certificate preferred.
• Experience with data acquisition devices e.g. LabVIEW, SoMat, etc.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, teamwork, flexibility, motivation, dependability.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting capability.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment with cross-functional staff.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prototype and production units in lab conditions per safety, durability and performance standards.
• Gather data on product performance using data acquisition systems (LabVIEW, SoMat) for non-standard tests.
• Maintain daily logs and write interim and final data summaries.
• Perform maintenance, teardown and inspections of test units and record findings.
• Design and develop test equipment and fixturing for unit testing.
• Instruct in advanced testing techniques and operation of data acquisition equipment.
• Carry out test programs for units, components, and materials.
• Provide product knowledge to resolve field problems and determine corrective action.
• Lead field/lab improvement projects and safety initiatives; support quality policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will You Do?

• Evaluate prototype and production units in laboratory conditions according to established and/or newly developed safety, durability, and performance standards.
• Gather data on the performance of products and prototypes to include programming of data acquisition with computer controlled DAQ systems (i.e. LabVIEW, SoMat, Dewesoft) for non-standard testing.
• Maintain daily logs and write periodic, interim, and final data summaries as required.
• Perform required maintenance, teardown and inspections of test units and record findings for inclusion in reliability and maintainability summaries.
• Design, arrange for the construction and development of test equipment and fixturing for component and/or entire unit testing.
• May be required to instruct in advanced testing techniques and operation of data acquisition equipment.
• Carry out test programs for units, components, and materials.
• Provide product knowledge to assist in resolving field problems and determine corrective action.
• Participates and/or lead field/lab improvement projects, safety initiatives, adherence to safety protocols and additional operational needs (technical supply stocks, truck maintenance, SharePoint site, transportation).
• Participate in quality initiatives and training as needed, and support company Quality policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need?

• GED/High School Diploma required with applicable years of experience. Technical College graduate with minimum of two-year degree or certificate preferred.
• Experience with data acquisition devices e.g. LabVIEW, SoMat, etc.
• Proficiency in MS Office Applications is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication, teamwork, flexibility, motivation, dependability etc.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting capability.
• Must be able to work independently and in team environment supporting cross-functional staff members.

Other Job-Related Components:

• Some travel may be required to field test sites for data acquisition or performance evaluations.
• Provide physical and technical support to Operations and other designated engineering departments.
