Job summary

The University of Chicago's Existential Risk Laboratory (XLab) seeks a Project Associate to support day-to-day operations, student research projects, the summer fellowship, and external communications. You will work with XLab leadership, the Financial Administrator, and program leads to ensure staff and fellows have needed support.

This in-person role requires strong organization, ability to manage events, craft announcements, and assist with grant-related tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Up to 2 years of related work experience.
• Strong writing and communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistical and administrative aspects of XLab programs.
• Plan and execute XLab workshops and events, including venue setup.
• Support student researchers in planning and organizing their activities.
• Identify and connect students with opportunities, fellowships, and mentors.
• Craft engaging content for announcements and website updates.
• Track program and grant spending with the Financial Administrator.
• Serve as first point of contact for external inquiries.
