Job summary

The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is seeking an Associate Preparator to handle, install, de-install, transport and maintain art, artifacts, and exhibition elements for core galleries and temporary exhibitions.

You will collaborate with Production, Collections, Design, and other departments; lead sub-teams and ensure safe handling, storage, and presentation. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years related experience in museums, archives, or related fields.
• Ability to display visitor service and work with diverse teams.
• Understanding of safe artifact handling and museum standards.

Responsibilities

• Handle, prepare, pack, transport, install and de-install art and artifacts.
• Fabricate and install exhibit casework, mounts, and display elements to museum standards.
• Monitor object condition, environmental factors, and documentation.
• Lead sub-teams during installation, rotations, and production tasks.
• Collaborate across collections, design, and production departments.
