Oakland Museum of California is seeking a Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs to lead exhibitions, collections, and related programs, partnering with the Director & CEO and department managers to advance OMCA's mission, social impact, and financial sustainability.

The role oversees about 35 staff across Collections, Curatorial, Design, and Production, mentors six positions, and serves on the Senior Directors Council to shape strategy, policy, and community engagement at a major Oakland

Qualifications

10+ years of leadership experience in a museum setting.
7+ years of supervisory experience.
MA in relevant field.
Proven experience directing exhibition and collection initiatives in museums.
Familiarity with community engagement and civic/audience development.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership as a Senior Directors Council member, contributing to policy-making and organizational vitality.
Lead strategic planning and budget for Curatorial, Collections, Design, and Production departments.
Oversee collections care, installation, and conservation guidance.
Collaborate with Board committees and donor cultivation activities.
Represent OMCA in the community, field, and at professional conferences.
