Creatacor, Inc. is seeking an experienced Exhibit Fabrication Senior Bench Carpenter in Clifton Park, NY. The role leads fabrication projects in the department, working with project managers and designers to fabricate custom displays and environments for clients.

You will interpret drawings, fabricate, and sometimes install displays ensuring quality and timely delivery. The position requires 6+ years in custom fabrication/bench carpentry, laminating experience, and the ability to lift up to 75

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience in custom fabrication or bench carpentry.
• Laminating experience required.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and remain stationary for extended periods during shift operations.
• Proficiency in safely operating shop tools and equipment; climb ladders/scaffolding as needed.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs independently or with assistance.

Job Overview

The Senior Bench Carpenter is an experienced individual who leads projects in the fabrication department. Working alongside project managers and designers, they fabricate custom displays for clients. The Carpenter interprets, fabricates, and sometimes installs displays for various custom environments.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Lead fabrication projects with minimal oversight, providing training and troubleshooting production issues. Check part dimensions and tolerances before and during assembly to ensure a flawless finish.
• Leads fabrication teams by providing direct supervision, guidance, and direction to ensure established quality and production standards are met.
• Reads specifications In blueprints, sketches, or drawings to prepare project, determine construction approach, and determine materials required.
• Follow directions and remain productive independently with minimal supervision.
• Operates stationary shop tools, power tools, and hand tools—including power saws, jointers, planers, and routers to cut, shape, and size materials according to specified measurements.
• Constructs cabinets, kiosks, wall panels, and displays using appropriate fasteners, adhesives, and hardware to ensure structural integrity.
• Installs laminates (HPL) and other finish material using spray adhesives or other fastening methods , routes and files finish material using trim routers and hand files.
• Installs hardware for displays as specified in drawings and work orders.
• Installs electrical wiring and lighting as required for the task.
• Verify final dimensions, and check the fit and finish of all fabricated elements.
• Tech Displays as needed.
• Constructs shipping crates and verifies that all items are properly secured and jigged for safe transport and storage.
• Ensure all projects meet company quality standards and leave the department in “Show Ready” condition.
• Track hours and materials on tasks to ensure work is completed within time/budget constraints, communicating overages to Forman.
• Accurately record project hours and material usage daily within the internal system.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment by following all safety guidelines and OSHA regulations related to shop tools, materials, and supplies.
• Know the locations for safety stations (first aid kits, eye wash, etc), as well as where MDSD sheets are kept.
• Encourage constant improvement and lead by example.
• Ability to work overtime, as needed.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant experience in custom fabrication or bench carpentry.
• Laminating experience required.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and remain stationary for extended periods during shift operations.
• Proficiency in safely operating shop tools, equipment, and ascending ladders/scaffolding as needed.
• Capability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver materials weighing up to 75 lbs independently or with assistance.
