Job summary

Magneti Marelli Parts & Services in Southfield, MI is seeking a Development Engineer for the Green Technologies Exhaust Systems R&D team. You will support design from concept to production, ensuring customer requirements and manufacturing needs are met.

This role reports to the R&D Manager and is based at our Southfield office. You will lead exhaust system development, coordinate with CAE, manufacturing, and suppliers, and ensure durability, packaging, and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in engineering project management.
• Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling systems (NX, Catia).
• Knowledge of exhaust system design, aftertreatment tech, and vehicle integration.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods for exhaust components.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of exhaust systems and components.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities with CAE, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Ensure durability, NVH, thermal protection, packaging, and cost targets.
• Manage projects from concept through launch, ensuring on-time delivery and quality.
• Engage with customers; translate requirements into specs and plans.
• Provide technical support to internal teams and customers.
• Collaborate with design teams to develop innovative solutions.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Follow design release procedures and document Design Review milestones.
