Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in New Hampshire is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist the surgical team before, during and after procedures with equipment and supplies. You will prepare equipment and instruments, perform counts with the circulating RN, assist with gowning and draping, maintain a sterile field, and support the team as a second circulator as directed.

Post-secondary education or equivalent is required; CPR within 90 days of hire; Medical Tech Registration.

Responsibilities

• Performs sponge, sharps, and counts with the circulating RN.

• Cuts suture material, retracts tissue as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintains an organized sterile field with appropriate equipment and supplies.
• Applies dressings at the completion of procedures when appropriate.
• Assists as a second circulator in the operating room as directed by the circulating RN.
• Picks surgical cases and updates preference cards.

Major Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment and instruments on the back table and Mayo stand using sterile technique.
• Performs sponge, sharps, and other required counts with the circulating RN, as applicable.
• Assists the surgeon with: Gowning and gloving Draping Providing supplies and instruments throughout surgical procedures
• Cuts suture material, retracts tissue, and sponges tissue as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintains an organized sterile field with appropriate equipment and supplies throughout the procedure.
• Applies dressings at the completion of procedures, as appropriate.
• Adheres to universal precautions when: Removing draping materials Handling and containing instruments and equipment Managing linen and disposable items
• Assists as a second circulator in the operating room, as directed by the circulating RN.
• Picks surgical cases and updates preference cards.

Pay Range

$33.50 - $49.78

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
