Job Description

Atlantic Health System is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Exercise Physiologist I to join our successful cardiac rehab team at Chilton Medical Center's outpatient location in Pompton Plains. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team with a shared mission of improving patient outcomes. This position is per diem, with varying shifts based on departmental needs, and has no weekend obligations.

The Exercise Physiologist will be responsible for the following:

  1. Initial assessment and treatment plan design for outpatient cardiac rehab and Supervised Exercise Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease patients.
  2. Providing exercise supervision for all cardiac rehab and SET-PAD patients.
  3. Assisting the team in maintaining appropriate exercise guidance to optimize patient outcomes.
  4. Identifying signs and symptoms to ensure a safe environment and knowing when to escalate clinical needs.
  5. Understanding physiological changes during cardiac rehab and applying this knowledge to exercise planning.
  6. Performing ECG screening and monitoring during exercise sessions.
  7. Providing risk factor and exercise education to patients.
  8. Supporting patient outcome collection and improvement initiatives.
  9. Communicating effectively with team members and medical staff to maximize patient success and safety.
  10. Delivering education on evidence-based exercise principles to team members.
  11. Collaborating on projects supporting the department and cardiovascular service line.
  12. Demonstrating strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  13. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
  • 1-3 years of professional cardiac rehab experience.
  • Certification: American College of Sports Medicine - Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
