Job summary

Henry Ford Health's St. John Hospital in Detroit seeks an Exercise Physiologist in the Non-invasive Cardiology department. The PRN role covers day shifts with weekend and staff vacation coverage.

You will plan and teach exercise therapy using test data and patient status, monitor responses, and adjust plans. Equipment maintenance, record-keeping, and coverage oversight are part of the role.

Qualifications

• BLS within 1 month of hire date required (American Heart Association).
• Exercise Physiologist credential from ACSM preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Stress testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct stress tests and EKG procedures.
• Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
• Plan and teach exercise therapy using test data, patient status and current medication regimen; monitor response and revise plan.
• Recognize contraindications and abnormal responses; respond to all situations including cessation and referral.
• Provide exercise information for patients, peers and community, including public speaking and education classes.
• Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning; prepare and maintain files, records, and reports; schedule patient appointments.
• Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.

Responsibilities :

• Primary responsibility will be conducting stress tests and EKG procedures
• Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
• Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitors patient's response and revises plan accordingly.
• Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
• Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
• Ensures department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly. Prepares develops and maintains various files, records, reports; schedules patient appointments as required.
• Provides oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association
• Exercise Physiologist credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.
