Charleston Area Medical Center in South Charleston seeks an Exercise Physiologist Non-Exempt for Cardiopulmonary Rehab. The role supports exercise testing, supervises training sessions, and assists with inpatient ambulation and patient education.

Education requires a Master’s Degree in exercise physiology (sports medicine preferred) and BLS within 30 days of hire. Schedule is days; salary is negotiable. The position teams with CAMC’s Cardiopulmonary Rehab program.

Job Summary

Provides supervision of exercise testing and assists in supervising exercise training sessions and assists with impatient progressive ambulation and patient education.

Responsibilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement

Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

Common Duties and Responsibilities

8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.
9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education

• Master’s Degree (Required) Education: Master’s degree in exercise physiology, sports medicine preferred. May also be considered if currently enrolled in Master’s degree program with graduation within 12 months. Experience: 1 Year maximal functional capacity exercise testing; leading and supervising exercises with normals and cardiac patients

Credentials

• Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hire
