Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking an entry-level Exercise Physiologist to join the Health Optimization Center in Celebration, FL. The role involves designing and supervising exercise prescriptions, interpreting tests, and educating patients and the community about safe, effective exercise strategies.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Exercise Science, is proficient with MS Office, and has CPR certification. This is a full-time, on-site position with standard daytime hours Monday through Friday,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.
• 1+ year of exercise concepts in medical setting (preferred).
• BLS CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Communicates and documents patient information effectively.
• Performs and interprets physiological assessments, identifying high-risk individuals and designing appropriate exercise prescriptions.
• Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients using data, status, and medication regimen.
• Monitors patient response to therapy and revises plans; provides education to patients, peers, and the community.
• Maintains department equipment and ensures it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
• Participates in interdisciplinary committees and staff development.
• Supports marketing and public awareness through community events and lectures.
• Ensures patient safety during exercise demonstrations and supervises activities.
• Coordinates exercise programs including referrals, scheduling, and supervision to meet department goals.
• Engages in ongoing professional development and promotes research-based practice.
• Other duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

• Communicates and documents patient information effectively.
• Performs and interprets the results of physiological assessment accurately, recognizing high-risk individuals and designing/referring appropriate exercise prescription.
• Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients using test data, patient status, and current medication regimen.
• Monitors patients' response to therapy and revises plans accordingly. Provides exercise information for patients, peers, and the community, including public speaking and education classes.
• Ensures department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
• Participates in interdisciplinary committees, Performance Improvement activities, staff and student development.
• Supports consumer marketing and public awareness through participation in community events, educational lectures, and other extensions of clinical expertise to the community.
• Maintains patient/client safety by explaining and demonstrating correct exercise technique and equipment use, closely supervising all activities and discontinuing patient’s exercise if the condition warrants.
• Meets department productivity standard defined by the department.
• Coordinates exercise program including referral proceedings, scheduling, program planning, and exercise supervision to achieve the goals of the department.
• Engages in ongoing professional development and promotes a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates, and disseminates research and evidence-based practice.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Entry-level professional competency of Exercise Physiology theory, principles, and applications as defined in competencies departmental policy and commitment to patient-oriented practice
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Education:

• Bachelor's [Required]

Field of Study:

• in Exercise Science or related field

Work Experience:

• 1+ experience with the application of exercise concepts/techniques/methods in a biological or medical setting [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
