Job summary

UCHealth University of Colorado Health in Colorado Springs is seeking a PRN Exercise Physiologist for Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Role develops exercise prescriptions, oversees progression, and may perform diagnostic tests.

On-site with dayshift responsibilities and pay range of $24.11 to $36.17 per hour, depending on experience. The position requires a Bachelor's in Exercise Physiology or related field; BLS certification is required; a Master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider through AHA or ARC CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, assesses, treats, and documents patient tolerance of exercise.
• Provides exercise prescription based on assessment data and current medications; updates prescriptions as needed.
• Recognizes contraindications and abnormal responses; responds appropriately.
• Provides exercise and disease management education for patients, peers and community.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision in fast-paced settings.

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

Summary:
Develops exercise prescription, oversees exercise progression/ability of patients, and/or performs diagnostic tests.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors, assesses, treats, and documents patient tolerance of exercise in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Provides exercise prescription for patients utilizing assessment data, patient status and current medication regimen; updates prescriptions according to patient response.
• Recognizes contraindications to exercise, abnormal patient responses, and responds appropriately to all situations.
• Provides exercise and disease management education for patients, peers and the community.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or related field.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
