Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a friendly Yoga Instructor for Lakewood Family YMCA in Lakewood, WA. This part-time role offers up to 25 hours per week with Wednesday evening classes and a focus on safe, inclusive group sessions for all fitness levels.

You will lead chair, beginner, and gentle yoga, promote member safety, and track class attendance while supporting the Y’s mission to strengthen communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in group exercise classes.
• Knowledge of core fitness components and best practices for group exercise instruction.
• Group Exercise certification (preferred).
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
• Background and reference checks required per WA State Fair Chance Act.
• Committed to diversity and promoting an inclusive environment.
• Willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other required training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fun, safe and educational classes.
• Design classes to improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and cardio-respiratory conditioning.
• Demonstrate techniques with different intensity levels.
• Build relationships with members.
• Assist in compiling program statistics.

Job description

Wage:$19.23 to $27.38 per hour(Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours:Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location:Lakewood Family YMCA, Lakewood, WA

Schedule Details: Wednesday Evenings - 6:00PM Class As a Yoga Instructor, you will create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement as you teach Yoga exercise classes such as Chair Yoga, Beginner Yoga, Gentle Yoga Group exercise classes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in group exercise classes.
• Knowledge of core fitness components and best practices for group exercise instruction.
• Group Exercise or related specialty certification (preferred).
• YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification, or equivalent certifications such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA (preferred).
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
