Job summary

Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC) is seeking an entry-level ECC Operator to support the Department of Energy OST training program at Fort Chaffee. The role combines clerical duties with basic security support, including information distribution to decision-makers during training, weather updates, and emergency responses.

The position starts as part-time adjunct with training and potential progression to full-time based on performance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support OST Training by coordinating and managing training resource requirements such as firing ranges and training areas and by monitoring and logging training information.
  • Operate and monitor section equipment such as radio and telephone communications, security camera systems, weather monitoring equipment and alarm systems.
  • Support security operations by monitoring access control points and personnel movements in a limited access area, conducting continuous surveillance of security feeds, and managing visitor control and badge inventory.
  • Take appropriate actions in event of an emergency to notify emergency services and site leadership and activate the emergency Alert and Notification System.
  • Act as a Custodian for Classified Material protection including classified mail transmission.

Job description

Headquartered in Germantown, MD Project Enhancement Corporation (PEC) is a technical services business focused on providing project management specialized technical and training services in the areas of nuclear safety, worker safety and health, security, quality assurance, environment as well as materials and facilities disposition within the DOE and commercial power industry.

The ECC Operator is a critical part of the Training Support Services Contract supporting the Department of Energy’s Office of Secure Transportation (OST). As an ECC operator, you will perform routine clerical and administrative tasks while also providing basic security support to the facility at Fort Chaffee. You will receive, compile, archive and distribute information to key decision-makers on a wide range of topics, including training support requests, weather warnings, emergency services and more.

This is an entry level position, but you do need to have basic skills in the Microsoft Office suite. We will train you to do the rest. Having military or law enforcement experience is preferred, but not a requirement. You will have to pass an initial and ongoing random drug screenings and be able to obtain an "L" or Secret security clearance.

This position starts as a part-time, adjunct position. After the initial 120 hours of training, an adjunct will work as needed to fill in for full-time operators. When full-time positions become open, they are only offered to the adjunct staff based on overall job performance.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced word processing using Microsoft Word, as well as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Willingness to work directly with customers in an environment that changes rapidly.
  • Ability to operate public dispatch communications systems under normal and highly stressful emergency situations.
  • Ability to conduct periodic security checks/patrols on foot.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the work/training schedule.
  • Ability to travel to support OST training events.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for a DOE security clearance and Building Access badge. Access will require the qualified candidate be a U.S. citizen with DOE L clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of maintaining a security clearance will be required as a condition of employment.
  • A pre-employment test for the absence of any illegal substances will be required. Ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of illegal substances may also be conducted for continued access to client sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests will be required as a condition of employment.
Desire d or Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years prior military or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • One year handling classified material.
  • Knowledge of DOE sites and types of operation.
  • Self-directed, and able to define and achieve goals with little supervision.
