Job summary

Withum seeks an experienced tax professional to lead the Exempt Organization and Employee Benefits Tax group. You will review complex tax returns for benefit plans and nonprofits, supervise staff, and provide guidance to clients while growing your career at Withum.

You will work with a team of trusted experts in a fast-paced firm that values analytical skill, teaching, and client service excellence. A strong CPA/JD/MS in Taxation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA/license/JD or MS in Taxation.
• At least 5 years in a public accounting tax department, leading multiple engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication with strong relationship building.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Review annual employee benefit tax returns and unrelated business income tax returns for a large and diverse client base.
• Review state income tax returns and annual charitable registration forms.
• Research and resolve tax-exempt organization tax issues.
• Review Form 5500s, 990 series, 990-T, C Corp., S Corp., partnership returns, and fiduciary/individual returns as time permits.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Manage multiple engagements with teams to meet deadlines.
• Provide guidance and mentoring within the team.
