Job summary

KinderCare Learning Companies in Beaverton, OR, is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Government Affairs to develop and execute policy and funding strategies across federal, state, and local levels.

You will lead relationships with policymakers, regulators, and partners, translate trends into business strategies, drive grant opportunities, and oversee the government relations team to advance high-quality early childhood education nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Law, Business, or a related field preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative affairs, or advocacy
  • Experience with Capitol Hill, a government agency, trade association, or comparable public policy environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and appropriations processes
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence decision-makers, and lead cross-functional initiatives
  • Understanding of government funding opportunities, public-private partnerships, and grant programs
  • Travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead KinderCare's government affairs, public policy, and government funding strategy
  • Position KinderCare as a leading voice in early childhood education policy
  • Serve as the organization's primary government affairs representative with policymakers and funders
  • Advise leadership on legislative, regulatory, political, and funding developments
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive government relations strategy and grant opportunities
  • Lead advocacy efforts to shape policy outcomes and secure funding opportunities
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting operations and growth
  • Partner across the enterprise to align public policy priorities with business needs
  • Lead the Government Affairs function and associated teams and partners
