Job summary

The Indiana University Foundation seeks a strategic, collaborative leader to serve as Executive Vice President of Finance, reporting to the President and CEO. You will shape long-term financial strategy, oversee enterprise-wide operations, and steward more than $4 billion in endowed assets to support IU's ambitions.

You will work with the Board and executive team to modernize finances, strengthen governance, and guide investments, risk management, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field required; MBA, master's degree, and CPA strongly preferred.
  • Fifteen+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least five years in an executive-level role.
  • Significant experience in higher education, healthcare, or another complex nonprofit environment, including expertise in endowment accounting and UPMIFA.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional financial and operational initiatives while influencing executive and Board-level decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership, overseeing long-term financial planning, forecasting, capital allocation, and organizational sustainability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors on financial strategy, investments, risk, and major organizational initiatives.
  • Lead treasury, accounting, budgeting, compliance, fund accounting, enterprise risk management, and financial reporting functions.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing finance organization while advancing operational excellence, financial literacy, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partner with executive leaders to modernize business processes, integrate AI-enabled financial tools, and support enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.

Executive Vice President of Finance
Job Overview

The Indiana University Foundation seeks a strategic, collaborative leader to serve as Executive Vice President of Finance during a pivotal period of organizational growth and transformation. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, this executive will shape the Foundation's long-term financial strategy, oversee enterprise-wide financial operations, and help steward more than $4 billion in endowed assets in support of one of the nation's leading public research universities. Working across the executive leadership team and with the Board of Directors, the EVP will strengthen organizational effectiveness, modernize financial operations, and ensure the Foundation has the infrastructure and financial discipline to support Indiana University's ambitious future.

Key Responsibilities

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hiring range of $325,000–$350,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits including 30 days of PTO, 11 paid holidays, healthcare with more than 90% of premiums covered, 12 weeks of paid leave, retirement benefits, life and disability insurance, car allowance, wellness benefits, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Hybrid work arrangement based in either Indianapolis or Bloomington, Indiana.
