We are seeking an Executive Underwriter in Los Angeles or San Francisco for our property line of business.

Your Team

Allianz Commercial (AzC) specializes in corporate property insurance for complex risk exposures across more than 200 countries and territories. We focus on large international risk portfolios, offering tailor-made 'All Risks' property damage and business interruption insurance through our global network.

Our experience includes insuring the majority of Global Fortune 500 companies, managing over 1000 global property insurance programs, and maintaining an underwriting team with an average of over 20 years' experience, supported by a worldwide team of risk consultants and claims specialists.

We underwrite insurance products for renowned sports venues, entertainment facilities, airlines, retail and wholesale companies, banks, and manufacturers.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Regional Property Leader - West, this role involves underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet line of business targets, negotiating prices and terms, and developing relationships with producers and clients. You will own large accounts and be a referral point for senior underwriters.

Key Responsibilities include:

1. Contributing to regional underwriting strategy development and execution.
2. Training and coaching experienced staff, managing complex referrals, and delegating work.
3. Underwriting new and renewal accounts, negotiating terms, managing capacity, and evaluating natural catastrophe risks.
4. Representing AzC externally, engaging with functional areas, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
5. Ensuring accurate policy documentation and supporting policy administration and credit control processes.
6. Supporting business acquisition and retention, and participating in key projects and regional activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 7 years of proven experience in underwriting profitable property insurance, including large commercial risks, manufacturing, real estate, retail, public entities, or healthcare facilities. Experience in broker roles is a plus. In-depth knowledge of line of business products, regional markets, and competitor landscape is required. Established relationships with brokers and a relevant bachelor’s degree are preferred.

Strong analytical skills, risk assessment abilities, and understanding of market operations are essential. Salary range: $144,556 to $225,052, with actual compensation based on experience and location.
