Job summary

Westchester Environmental is seeking an Executive Underwriter to support the Midwest & West Regions. You will underwriting, manage, and grow a book focused on Environmental Contractors/Consultants and related pollution liability accounts.

You will market to assigned brokers, work with zonal managers and Business Development teams to position this portfolio within Westchester Environmental’s growth strategy, including travel for broker visits.

Qualifications

• Underwriter will directly underwriting, managing, and growing a book of Environmental Contractors/Consultants and related pollution liability accounts.
• Experience in underwriting with brokers and regional markets.
• Ability to determine terms and conditions and complex rating plans.

• Soliciting new and renewal submissions from appointed wholesale brokers.
• Ability to handle and understand wholesale submission volume.
• Determines terms and conditions and complex rating plans.
• Quote/Bind coverage.
• Documenting the underwriting files to company/division expectations.

Westchester Environmental is looking for an applicant to fill the position ofExecutive Underwritersupporting our Midwest & West Regions. Westchester Environmental writes both contractors and consultants across multiple industries. This underwriter will be charged with directly underwriting, managing, and growing a book consisting mainly of Environmental Contractors/Consultants package, manufacturers products pollution, monoline premises pollution and contractors’ pollution liability accounts. The underwriter will be responsible for aggressively marketing to their assigned brokers to bring in opportunities and will work closely with the respective zonal manager, EVP for Westchester Environmental, as well as various Business Development Managers across the region to position this portfolio within Westchester Environmental’ s strategy for growth and profit.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Profitability & Production:

• Goal Achievement - Delivering upon the established New and Renewal business goals as provided by the Regional Underwriting Manager.
• Growth Strategies - Executing upon the assigned roles per the regional marketing plans and strategies. This includes:
  • Client & broker relations including sales calls & attendant strategies
  • Completing target account responsibilities & cross sell strategies
• Underwriting Integrity - Achieving all underwriting standards as outlined by the CHUBB Westchester Specialty Environmental Division home office and all applicable Underwriting Guidelines, Authorities, and Position Papers.
• Risk selection:
  • Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions- Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.
  • Risk Assessment- Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze claims and quantify losses.

Performance will be measured by:

• Achievement of premium goals & budgets
• Adherence to underwriting goals, guidelines & objectives
• Adherence to departmental workflow and service standards
• Qualitative assessment of underwriting decisions
• Results of internal and external underwriting audits
• New business submission and quote activity
• Marketing activity
