Job summary

Builders is seeking an Executive Underwriter to evaluate, select, and underwrite the most complex policies within a designated area, ensuring alignment with program standards and objectives.

The role requires regulatory compliance, precise pricing, collaboration with other departments, and leadership in risk assessment for agents, members, and prospects.

A Georgia-licensed candidate with a four-year degree in insurance or related discipline and multi-line underwriting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • State of Georgia Property and Casualty Agents License and six or more years of insurance experience in Underwriting, with experience in policy processing and multi-line experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the most senior staff member assigned the most intricate policies and situation for resolution.
  • Review new applications, and loss information to thoroughly evaluate risk and determine eligibility for program inclusion. Adhere to underwriting guidelines established by assigned programs.
  • Exercise discretion in accordance with authority levels when assessing each risk.
  • Adhere to National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) regulations and guidelines while assessing and binding risks.
  • Ensure precise pricing of individual risks and propose adjustments beneficial to the company's underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare quotes and revised quotes for agents' consideration.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customer service inquiries, addressing questions and resolving issues from agents, members, and prospects in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Review monthly renewals for pricing adjustments or non-renewal decisions based on historical data.
  • Utilize specialized expertise to evaluate changes recommended by internal staff for accounts under evaluation by the Underwriting team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to service accounts and minimize losses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Skill in analysis, time management, prioritization, negotiation and project management; ability to multi-task effectively while paying attention to detail
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication with the ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and function specific software applications
