Job Summary

As a Sous Chef, you will oversee the Culinary Department's successful operation for a facility. Your responsibilities include supervising, preparing, and cooking various foods, developing daily menus, and garnishing dishes. You may supervise hourly staff and collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and manage ordering. This role is ideal for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef with managing costs and controlling expenditures
  • Support menu planning and creation
  • Produce and execute catering events
  • Implement new culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience
  • Progressive culinary or kitchen management experience, depending on formal training
  • Catering experience is a plus
  • Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations is highly desirable
  • Experience with institutional and batch cooking helpful
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, email, and internet
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable
