Job description

WXYZ, the E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Detroit, Michigan, is seeking an experienced Executive Producer to lead our news team.

As the Executive Producer, you'll have the opportunity to showcase Detroit across multiple platforms. Detroit is a city undergoing an exciting renaissance, with vibrant neighborhoods, cultural attractions, and a rich history.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  1. Manage newscasts and local programming content across platforms.
  2. Collaborate with editors, producers, and the assignment desk to select stories.
  3. Oversee and edit content, including teases and web headlines.
  4. Develop workflow strategies for multiple programs.
  5. Manage pre-production, ensuring quality and standards, and coordinate with control room and design staff.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in the field.
  • 5+ years of previous news producing experience.
  • Prior managerial experience preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Knowledge of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel laws.
  • Ability to develop strategies to increase performance across platforms.
  • Knowledge of laws impacting operations.
  • Flexibility to work holidays, weekends, and evenings.
