Job description

Intellibus Consulting is a boutique engineering and AI transformation firm that builds mission-critical platforms for global financial institutions. We operate at the intersection of engineering excellence, business outcomes, and executive-level delivery.

At Intellibus, our leaders are hands-on builders who understand technology deeply, engage confidently with senior executives, and take ownership of client success. We believe successful technology transformation requires leaders who can connect business strategy, architecture, engineering, and execution

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Executive Partner – Financial Services & FinTech Transformation to lead strategic client relationships and technology transformation initiatives within the financial services industry.

This is a senior, client-facing leadership role for someone who started their career as a software engineer or continues to maintain strong hands-on engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise, enterprise architecture leadership, executive communication, and proven experience managing large financial services accounts.

You will serve as a trusted technology advisor to C-level executives, CIOs, CTOs, and senior business stakeholders. You will lead architecture discussions, shape technology roadmaps, guide engineering teams, and translate complex business challenges into practical technical solutions.

The ideal candidate has experience managing or growing enterprise technology accounts in the $2M–$20M range, with the ability to build long-term client relationships, identify opportunities, and expand strategic engagements.

This is not a traditional account management, sales, or project management role. We are looking for a technically credible leader who can engage at the executive level while being equally comfortable discussing architecture, reviewing engineering decisions, and guiding technical execution.

Key Responsibilities

Executive & Strategic Client Partnership

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with C-level executives, CIOs, CTOs, and senior technology leaders.
  • Act as the senior technology partner and strategic point of contact for key financial services clients.
  • Understand client business objectives, technology challenges, organizational priorities, and long-term transformation goals.
  • Lead executive conversations, strategic reviews, roadmap discussions, and technology planning sessions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing engagements and develop long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Manage and grow enterprise client relationships, ideally across accounts ranging from $2M to $20M in annual business.

Hands-On Architecture & Technical Leadership

  • Lead enterprise architecture discussions and provide technical direction across complex financial services platforms.
  • Leverage your engineering background to challenge designs, review architectural decisions, and guide implementation strategies.
  • Work closely with architects, engineering leads, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable.
  • Translate business requirements into architecture blueprints, system designs, integration strategies, and executable engineering plans.
  • Lead discussions around distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, cloud platforms, and enterprise integrations.
  • Stay close to engineering execution and provide practical technical guidance rather than operating exclusively at a management level.

Executive Architecture & Technical Presentations

  • Create and present high-quality executive-level architecture diagrams and technical presentations.
  • Translate complex technical environments into clear visual representations that executives and business stakeholders can understand.
  • Develop architecture overviews, current-state and future-state diagrams, solution blueprints, transformation roadmaps, and technology strategy decks.
  • Present technical recommendations, architectural trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and business implications.
  • Lead architecture workshops and communicate complex engineering concepts with clarity and confidence.
  • Demonstrate exceptional proficiency in PowerPoint, Google Slides, and architecture visualization tools.

Technology Transformation & Delivery Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight across multiple engineering teams and technology workstreams.
  • Ensure alignment between business objectives, architecture decisions, engineering execution, and delivery outcomes.
  • Guide teams through modernization initiatives, platform transformation, system integrations, and complex technology programs.
  • Oversee architecture, development, testing, deployment, release management, and production stability.
  • Work with engineering, DevOps, SRE, and infrastructure teams to address technical risks and improve platform reliability.
  • Take ownership of escalations and drive resolution of complex technical and delivery challenges.

Account Growth & Business Development

  • Own the strategic growth and success of assigned financial services accounts.
  • Identify opportunities for new technology initiatives, platform modernization, engineering transformation, and AI adoption.
  • Work with executive stakeholders to understand emerging business needs and position relevant technology capabilities.
  • Partner with Intellibus leadership to develop account strategies, growth plans, and client engagement roadmaps.
  • Support proposal development, solution positioning, executive presentations, and strategic client discussions.
  • Build relationships that drive sustainable account growth and long-term partnerships.

Required Qualifications

Engineering & Architecture Background

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, technology architecture, engineering leadership, or enterprise technology delivery.
  • Must have started their career as a software engineer or have substantial hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Proven experience leading architecture and technical design discussions for enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, and enterprise integrations.
  • Ability to engage deeply with engineers and architects, challenge technical decisions, and provide practical guidance.
  • Experience with financial services, fintech, banking, capital markets, trading, or financial technology platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading large enterprise technology accounts, ideally in the 2M–20M annual range.
  • Experience working directly with CIOs, CTOs, C-level executives, and senior business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build trusted executive relationships and influence technology strategy.
  • Experience growing existing accounts, identifying opportunities, and expanding client engagements.
  • Strong understanding of consulting business models, client delivery, and enterprise technology services.
  • Exceptional ability to create executive-ready architecture diagrams and technical presentations.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Google Slides skills.
  • Ability to explain complex architecture and engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing architecture blueprints, solution diagrams, transformation roadmaps, and executive-level technology decks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Leadership & Consulting Experience

  • Experience leading distributed engineering teams and complex technology programs.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced consulting environments with evolving client priorities.
  • Strong ownership mentality, problem-solving ability, and executive presence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large financial services technology organizations and enterprise fintech platforms.
  • Experience with platform modernization, cloud transformation, and large-scale system integrations.
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, Java, and modern enterprise technology stacks.
  • Experience with AI-driven transformation and identifying opportunities to apply AI within financial services.
  • MBA or equivalent business leadership experience is a plus, but strong engineering and commercial leadership experience is more important.

What Success Looks Like

  • Establishing strong executive relationships and becoming a trusted technology advisor.
  • Providing credible architecture leadership and guiding critical technical decisions.
  • Clearly communicating complex technical solutions through executive diagrams and presentations.
  • Maintaining strong alignment between client objectives, architecture, engineering, and delivery.
  • Retaining and expanding strategic client relationships.
  • Driving sustainable account growth and identifying new opportunities for Intellibus.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has grown from an engineering background into a senior technology and client leadership position.

You may currently be a Principal Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, Enterprise Architect, CTO, VP of Engineering, Engineering Director, or Technology Consulting Partner.

What matters most is that you can think like an engineer, lead like an architect, communicate like an executive, and take ownership like a business partner.

If you enjoy solving complex technology problems, engaging with senior executives, building architecture strategies, and growing strategic financial services relationships, we would like to hear from you.

Compensation: $100 - $135 / Hour
