Job summary

Maricopa County Correctional Health Services seeks a Chief Nursing Officer to provide executive leadership for nursing and clinical support services across all facilities. The CNO reports to CHS leadership and guides a team of nursing leaders, ensuring safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care in a complex 24/7 environment.

The ideal candidate has seven years of nursing experience and two years in nursing leadership, with an RN license (Arizona or multi-state).

Qualifications

Seven years of nursing experience in a hospital, ambulatory, correctional, behavioral health, or similarly complex healthcare environment.
Two years of nursing leadership experience involving supervision and clinical oversight of nurses and other professionals.
Valid RN license in Arizona or multistate license via NLC.
BSN from an accredited program; a Master's may substitute for up to two years of general nursing experience.

Responsibilities

Provide executive leadership for nursing and designated clinical support services across CHS facilities.
Lead Nursing Managers and nursing leaders; set expectations and drive performance.
Establish standards of nursing practice aligned with laws and accreditation requirements.
Collaborate with CHS and external partners to optimize patient outcomes and staffing models.
Ensure staffing coverage, scheduling, and workforce utilization across facilities.
Lead quality, safety, CQI activities and readiness for accreditation.
