Job summary

MelroseWakefield Hospital in Massachusetts seeks a Physician Leader to oversee the systems, policies and procedures that assure high‑quality patient care and cost‑effective use of hospital resources. The position supervises physicians employed by MelroseWakefield Healthcare and oversees credentialing and CME programs.

This executive role participates in senior management planning, budgets and strategy, sponsors multidisciplinary safety initiatives, and ensures compliance with accreditation

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Residency training completed.
  • Fellowship completed if appropriate.
  • Licensed to practice medicine.
  • Board certification in specialty.
  • Hospital credentials (license, privileges).
  • Unrestricted DEA number.
  • Certifications (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, etc.).
  • 10 years total experience including 5 years clinical and 5 years in medical staff admin roles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee systems for reviewing and evaluating quality of care.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement programs with Medical Staff Departments.
  • Partner with CEO and Director of Quality on administrative processes for continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve on Medical Staff committees and patient care committees.
  • Address patient complaints related to quality of care.
  • Evaluate clinical performance of staff and coordinate actions.
  • Ensure integration of Medical Staff activities with broader initiatives.
  • Establish linkages with other hospitals/physicians for clinical issues.
  • Assist with physician recruitment and Medical Staff planning.
  • Ensure cost-effective use of hospital resources.
  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and external standards.
  • Mediate conflicts among Medical Staff and nursing/administrative staff.
  • Oversee accredited continuing medical education programs.
