Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking an accomplished Medical Director to provide executive clinical leadership across our behavioral health and substance use treatment programs with regional travel to facilities in NC and VA. This full-time, executive leadership position focuses on strategic direction, quality outcomes, and regulatory excellence.

The role requires an MD or DO with an unrestricted license and leadership experience in behavioral health settings.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with unrestricted medical license to practice in NC or VA.
• Board Certification / Board Eligibility in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialty preferred.
• Leadership experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction treatment settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of medical services across behavioral health and substance use treatment programs.
• Ensure safe, compliant, evidence-based patient care and regulatory excellence.
• Supervise physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical staff.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategy, planning, and growth.
• Develop and improve medical policies, procedures, and standards.
• Support integrated care alongside behavioral health, nursing, and clinical teams.
• Lead quality assurance, documentation excellence, and performance improvement.
• Assist with provider recruitment, credentialing, and onboarding.
• Provide consultation for complex medical and psychiatric cases.
