Job summary

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services seeks an experienced executive leader to serve as Assistant Secretary of the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). You will guide a 4,000+ workforce and a $6.2 billion biennial budget through a major transformation, enhancing access to services and the voice of individuals and families.

You’ll build trust with legislators, partners, and federal stakeholders, translate vision into action, and ensure accountability,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required in social work, human services, business/public administration, health care administration, finance, or related field.
• Executive-level experience leading directors, managers, and other senior leaders across complex programs is preferred.
• Experience leading programs or organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Guide Developmental Disabilities Administration through a pivotal transformation, preserving trust and community relationships.
• Establish clear priorities, strengthen coordination and accountability across the administration.
• Lead with sound judgment and steady leadership in an environment where services operate around the clock.
• Build alignment among teams, programs, and partners, ensuring commitments are translated into action.
