Job summary

The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization's planning, operations, and program delivery for city recreation facilities and services. The CEO will oversee staff, budgets, policy development, and external partnerships to advance youth development, cultural and physical recreation, and community well-being.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience in the administration of a parks and recreation department or sports organization.
  • Experience with facilities, operations, leading and managing professional staff and teams to higher levels of performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as internal consultant to all units and departments/agencies of New Orleans concerning recreation issues, and as a key participant in divisional and organizational strategic planning.
  • Promote community outreach and stakeholder engagement with schools, churches, parent groups and local media.
  • Develop, implement, disseminate, and interpret NORDC policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the budgeting and funding decisions for recreation programs and facilities.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and community groups to build financial and strategic support.
